"Shit Happens In Paradise"

April 2, 2016

Greeting from Hawaii again. Wish I could be typing this to you on a better note, however like the title says, sometimes shit happens...

For the most part things have been going well since my last post. Have been working around the house and enjoying life without too many responsibilities. I haven't been able to get out much and explore but it is ok because I knew that time would come soon enough. The current place I am at will be coming to a closure within the next couple of weeks and will have to find a new place to say and offer my work services, hopefully a place closer to the ocean with much more to do than there is here in Waikaloa. Have a couple options in the works and hoping to solidify one of them very soon.

Let us get to the main point of this blog article...

Yesterday I finally got a day off from working and the opportunity to go to the beach and explore the island a little bit. This was very exciting to me because I haven;t been to the ocean since I last wrote about it here. I planned o taking the bus down to Kona with high hopes of cliff jumping and enjoying myself down at the beach there. The day started off how any other day would, woke up, walked the dogs, came back to eat and then started preparing for my adventurous day. Things were going well and the time was coming for me to leave so I can get to the bus stop a few minutes early... This is when things went wrong...

I hopped on the bike with my bag full of items such as my book, phone charger, water, towel and some money, along with my hammock attached to the bike just in case I found a couple trees to hang from.  I was riding to the bus stop and then the unthinkable happened. I was on the bike and had to go around a minor bend in the road. Not much of a worry on my mind because I was not travelling fast or reckless, but i suppose that's when the bad events will occur. While slightly turning the bike I hit a patch of sand and with the back tire being a bit bald, it slid right out from underneath me and I hit the ground. Not too hurt after hitting the ground, I got back up, saw I had a couple abrasions thinking I was all good, and then proceeded to get back on the bike to continue my journeys.... That was until I looked down at my bleeding knuckle.....

It was then I realized I had a big problem on my hands. I looked at my knuckle and moved my finger, watching the bone move back and forth as well. It was then that I knew I could not continue and had to get some medical attention... I turned the bike around and headed back to the house to get things cleaned up and find the appropriate course of action to take. I got back, cleaned my cuts ranging from my face, to my knuckle, to down both my legs. I knew I had to go to the ER so I could have them properly clean this so it wouldn't get infected and any other medical attention it needed.

I called a taxi, spent $65 to get to the nearest hospital which was 25 miles away, got patched and cleaned up and went on my way.... I could go in to the finer details of what happened there and how I got back to Waikaloa without paying for a taxi, but as i'm thinking about all of this I start to loose my patience and just want to end this... Amongst other things on my mind I will have to conclude this blog post here.

Life comes at you fast and unexpectedly. Roll with the punches... I suppose

Until next time...
